13 Dogs Rescued From Hoarder’s Detroit Home

DETROIT (WWJ) – More than a dozen dogs were removed from a house in Southwest Detroit — and now volunteers are busy assessing the animals’ condition and wondering how to prevent this from ever happening again.

Detroit Dog Rescue Dan Carlisle, with a crew of nine volunteers, worked well into the night on Tuesday, removing 13 dogs from a home where — just last fall — they had rescued 24 other dogs.

“The hoarding … had doubled,” Carlisle told WWJ Newsradio 950′s Marie Osborne.

Carlisle said the woman who had the dogs has not received mental health treatment for her alleged hoarding issues, and he worries that this isn’t the end of it.

Neighbors called authorities — some claiming some of the dogs were lost pets swiped off the street.
